Jingle Bells
Ho Ho Ho, Santa is coming. or maybe he was already here. Oh and Rudolph too.
I still enjoy the thought of setting out the cookies and milk (and carrots) and then laugh when I think about my poor dad having to eat all that stuff before I wake up. Ha ha ha.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Thoughts About Personal Change...and Blogging
I was browsing my old Yahoo account because I noticed that my info said that I was still 14 years old and in changing that, I stumbled upon my old website that I had created in seventh grade. It is soooo funny. The graphics are just horrible and my design skills combined with the html that I taught myself is indeed comical. I viewed the guestbook and someone wrote a mean comment about how awful it is, but hey, I can't disagree. I can't even log back in to Angelfire to even delete the site because I don't remember my password and my old email account is obselete.
I think the most interesting part is how much I have changed in the past 8 years. I wonder if people just change that dramatically over their teenage years or if it is constant metamorphasis? Will I look back on this blog in 8 years and say, man I was an idiot? Probably, yes for three specific reasons.
A. Hopefully I'll be smarter
B. My views will probably change or at least shift as I experience and learn more
C. My different life stage will give me a different outlook on life.
Perhaps we don't even change at all, maybe we just shift our perspectives of ourselves and that is why we appear so different. Actually it is kind of nice to have a documentation of your state of being at every stage in your life. (a perk of journaling, ha ha) But, then there is the whole issue that it continues to represent you to the whole world even 10 years after you write it since it is in a public forum, even if that doesn't accurately convey the skills, attitudes, interests, and values that you have at the current moment.

Why Borat should die...
because he is not funny.
Not only is Borat making fun of Americans (especially the morons that laugh at his stupid, not funny jokes), but also every foreign-based ethnic group that ever existed. I think somebody should pack him up in a nondescript white van and drive away with him. He is a sore on the face of free speech and democratic institutions. It amazes me how many otherwise nice and intelligent Americans approve of his work, let alone applaud it. Borat is a shining example of the distasteful degredation of society through popular culture.

Slippers
Then these slippers I got at the Dunnes Store in Spain since they NEVER go without shoes. You don't realize how annoying it is to always have something on your feet until you have to do it for 4 months. As the sloppy American that I am, I like slinging off my shoes after a long day. At least I had something adorable on my feet to make up for it.

Fuzzy Purple Slippers
Ok, so these aren't shoes, but close enough. These are really cute purple slippers that I got from a Delia's catalogue awhile ago. They are soooooooooo comfortable, like walking on tiny mattresses.

Moroccan Shoes
Today you can see the very cute shoes that I bought in Morocco. I had wanted other ones, but since our tour guide wouldn't let us just stop in whatever shop we wanted, and I had tons of dirhams left, I just bought these cuties before getting on the ferry to go back to Spain. Only I had to keep on going back to the guy at the store like 3 times because he kept on giving me a pair of shoes that weren't matched. I would take the next pair with me, and then think, oh gee, I should try these on, and then I realized the one shoe is 3 sizes bigger or the wrong design and would be like, shoot, and back to too-friendly guy again. I like the smell of these, they definitely have that leathery smell going on, but the strange thing is that they are not made for the right or left foot. The are uni-foot (as I shall call it), they fit either the R or L. I like the color of these, they match khaki very well.
Isn't shoe week fun?

HoyVoy Shoes
I got these boots/shoes because Melissa convinced me they were cool, and now I love them. At first I didn't think they would be something I would wear, but then I saw just how cute they could be with capris or pants rolled up 2 or 3 times. The best thing was that I found them in Malaga for only 10 euros after Melissa had just bought similar ones for a whole lot more a couple days earlier, bahahahaha. I revel in my European HoyVoy skaterish boots, even if I don't wear them much here.

A week of shoes
Today I show you the awesome gold wedges that I just got from Old Navy. Aren't they just adorable? I absolutely love the gold ribbons that tie. Awwww. These may be newest favorites. hmmmmm. we shall see.
This week, I am going to bore all my wonderful blog readers with a showcase of my recent shoe acquisitions.

Knitting is from Satan
So over vacation I was trying to knit a scarf. I found this great bright pink yarn with tassly things and I thought, oh boy, I'll have a pretty handmade scarf to wear in no time. Well, I was wrong.
A. Knitting takes FOREVER I probably already logged 12 hours into my rectangle that still is only 5 inches long
B. Knitting needles slip. I finished a row and bam, the needle slipped out and when I tried to put the loops back on it was impossible. Once they come off they are impossible to put back on. I know have 6 GIANT holes in my scarf because of this.
C. The yarn for one scarf is about the same price of buying 2 fully made scarves online, without out all the slave labor
D. I hate it and it isn't worth it.
I am going to finish my crappy scarf and then never again. Knitting is the most mind numbing task I have ever done.

Marianela
Two months ago I read this horrible awful book that made me feel horrible and awful. It is called Marianela, by Galdos. It is supposed to be a classic of Spanish literature so i read it (in Spanish I might add--yay me), but it was just the worst story ever. (Ok not as creepy as American Psycho by Ellis that I read over the summer, but rather just sad)
So Marianela is an unattractive girl that has a blind friend, Pablo, with whom she shares a mutual love. A doctor comes and fixes Pablo's sight, and the little girl in everyone, wants the story to have a fairytale ending in which the two get married and live happily ever after. Well, they don't. It may be expected, but the reader is jolted from their peaceful, quiet reading, to an ugly truth about humans. I won't tell you what happens, but don't plan on smiling at the end.
