State Skillets

If I had $450 to throw down on a skillet...I would buy one of these.

From the artist:
Exclusively from the den of FeLion Studios, comes the 48 cast iron skillets of the “Made In America” original state-pan art piece. Now available for individual pre-sale, every skillet from the “Made In America” series fits together with the surrounding states, making these items fun to collect and build your own geographic regions of functional skillets !

They might look mini in the photo above, but total weight of the all the state skillets together is 550 lbs! Wowza. They're definitely big enough to put on your stove and fry up some eggs in.

Goodness, the options for breakfast would be endless. Today I'd have a Virginia omelette and tomorrow a Pennsylvania pancake.

Coloring Eggs

This week I've been in Pittsburgh (which I will post about later). I made it home just in time to be swept over to my grandparent's house for our annual Easter Egg Coloring Get-together. I ended up taking so long on each egg that I only got to decorate three eggies. I had Peeps on my brain, so what do you know? that's what appeared on one of my eggs. One was a miserable failure, so we will not discuss that one. And finally, the last one celebrated the 'feet' of Easter--namely cow, chick, and bunny feet.

What can I say? I had to amuse myself.

But, I am not going to lie, I am pleased with how they turned out this year (except for that one we were not going to talk about).

Eggies

easter eggI colored Easter Eggs this weekend and then we did not eat them. I was shocked when people told me they had eaten the eggs they had dipped in toxic colors. Something just seems wrong with that. Green eggs for eating? ewww.

I usually go overboard with my decorations, and spend like 30 minutes an egg so that by the time I'm done with 3, the others have already dyed a whole dozen or so. I like experimenting with the clear crayon the best and dipping the egg in more than one color.

On Sunday we hid the eggs at one of my relative's farm, and let me just tell you that it was cold. That was not really how I wanted to spend my Easter, searching for little eggies while flurries drifted from the sky. I suppose the weather helped us to find them a little faster... My mom already broke all of the eggs she found anyway. Soon the smell of rot will invade the dining room table. Gee, I wonder what will be the cause?

And this was the first year I didn't have an Easter basket to hunt at home. I'm too old. This is very sad.
